Your Past Does Not Have to Become Your Permanent Identity
Dr. Shauna Rossington draws on decades of experience in mental health, addiction recovery, and behavioral therapy to help people move beyond past patterns and build healthier ways of thinking, coping, and living.

Upward Spiral to Sobriety
Creating New Neural Habits through the Power of I AM Statements
A practical 31-day recovery workbook for people looking for a different approach to sobriety.
Rather than defining someone by addiction or focusing solely on what they need to stop doing, Upward Spiral to Sobriety focuses on who they are becoming.
Through daily I AM statements, prescribed thoughts, reflection, mindfulness, breathing, and repetition, readers practice replacing unhealthy thought patterns and coping mechanisms with healthier ones.
What Dr. Shauna Believes
Change the thought.
Change the pattern.
Change what comes next.
Dr. Shauna’s work is grounded in a simple belief: your past behavior does not have to become your permanent identity.
Recovery and personal change are about more than stopping an unwanted behavior. They are also about examining the thoughts, beliefs, coping mechanisms, and identity underneath the unwanted behavior.
Through intentional self-talk, mindfulness, repetition, reflection, and practical behavioral tools, we can begin practicing new responses and creating healthier patterns. We can rewire how our brains think and learn to choose positive thoughts and feelings.
Where you have been does not have to determine where you go next, because there is not only one path forward.
Meet Dr. Shauna L. Rossington, LMFT, DBA
Dr. Shauna Rossington is a licensed therapist, author, and mental health professional whose career has been shaped by both professional experience and a deeply personal connection to addiction and recovery.
After beginning her career working in drug rehabilitation, Dr. Shauna spent nearly three decades working in foster care therapy before returning to addiction treatment, including work with military veterans.
Throughout that work, Dr. Shauna became increasingly interested in a simple question:
What if recovery was not only about what someone needed to stop doing, but also about who they can become? Who they can change to without a past identity, an identity they can shed. An identity they can change.
That question eventually became the foundation of her work with I AM statements, intentional thought patterns, practical coping tools, and her book, Upward Spiral to Sobriety.
